"A couple of other software providers I looked at didn’t have the same functionality...I always felt like I got an answer and somebody to walk me through it and to get back to me quickly, which I really appreciated."
- Senior Director, Alumni Association
Now more than ever, organizations across the country and the world are looking for ways to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Recent survey data from the World Economic Forum shows that organization leaders are most concerned about ensuring health, safety, and efficiency. From overcoming economic challenges to managing health and safety in the face of environmental risks and security risks, planning for the future requires a holistic approach.
Kokomo24/7® collaborated with our partner Zebra Technologies to explore how a holistic platform approach makes managing health, safety, and security more efficient - and, show how Kokomo24/7® and Zebra combine to provide integrated technology solutions that organizations want.
Platforms such as ours are built according to the principles of integration and interoperability, which are increasingly important as organizations, schools, and software developers all work together to tackle some of the toughest challenges we face in enabling better operational efficiency and cost management.
As a recent Gartner paper pointed out, the pressures of operational needs, competitiveness, efficiency, and cost are all driving the need for new directions and foundations in the technologies we use.
Specifically, to establish a better technical foundation for modernization, Gartner recommends deploying enterprise capabilities that are “standards-based and cloud-capable” and support new digital initiatives such as advanced integration, identity verification hyperautomation, workflow orchestration, artificial intelligence, and business intelligence.
All of these capabilities are at the foundation of the platform our engineers have built, and they’re driving many other innovations across platform-based cloud solutions across many different industries and requirements.
Gartner’s analysts and consultants also recommend that organizations prepare to upgrade their “legacy software and infrastructure to better meet stakeholder needs by reducing on-premises infrastructure investments” and reallocate funding to fund other organizational and institutional priorities.
Not surprisingly, this is what we’re already seeing as everyone from corporations to K-12 schools are now consolidating the software and technologies they’re using and moving more toward singular, platform-based cloud solutions that let them manage far more of their tasks, security, communication and operations with far better efficiency, far less IT hassles and infrastructure, and far less cost.
While current trends and organizational needs point to a clear future where platform-based solutions will be dominant and will help us achieve the results we need, the real story behind the holistic platform approach is nothing new.
Our founding team, including our chief solutions architect, worked for over 20 years at Microsoft, IBM, and PwC, building and consulting on system design projects with some of the most difficult requirements, where the challenges of efficiency, integration, interoperability were most acute.
One case in point was the development of a powerful security platform for the New York Police Department’s anti-terrorism bureau. Camera feeds, data, and security management needed to be connected, coordinated and centralized across the entire city, without dangerous integration or interoperability issues that could leave the department blind or slow to protect the city and respond as quickly as possible to an emerging terrorist threat. Lessons learned from that project have since informed us about everything our team does to this very day.
Similarly, through projects for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, we’ve grappled with similar challenges with the highest stakes. So, it was only natural that our team eventually turned its focus toward the private sector, K-12 schools, and healthcare systems, where the needs for security, access controls, visitor and event management, emergency communication, and health and wellness demanded the right solution.
That’s what led to the Kokomo24/7® platform, which has combined over 20 years of innovative problem-solving into a single platform that provides all of these capabilities and continues to expand into more, with an easy usability and cloud-based approach that have dramatically simplified health, safety and efficiency for our customers.
Now, from the Oscars® and automakers to leading corporations, from banking and financial institutions to airlines, cities, colleges, and religious institutions, we’ve continued to champion the holistic platform approach and deliver our solutions according to the same core principles.
