LAUSD Announces Launch of New Kokomo24/7® Health & Safety Mobile Apps

On March 9th, 2023, LAUSD announced the launch of two new Kokomo24/7® health, safety, and wellness tools from the Kokomo software suite. LAUSD and Kokomo24/7® have partnered together since 2018 to help provide the district with the tools they need to help better track, manage, prevent, and respond to the district’s health, safety, and wellness challenges.   With almost 1,300 schools and a community of 600,000, LAUSD faces a broad set of challenges to help keep their entire community safe. 

Anonymous Tip Line Mobile App 

The first mobile app, called LASAR, is an anonymous tip line accessible by app or website. LAUSD students, staff, and community members can now use Kokomo24/7®’s digital tip line to anonymously report concerning public safety incidents in school and around Los Angeles County. A study by the Pew Research Center found that the number of US schools with a structured anonymous threat-reporting system doubled from 2010 to 2020. 

Emergency Alert Mobile App 

The second app LAUSD is adopting features an emergency alert button for staff members which can call 911 discreetly during active threat situations. According to a 2020 survey conducted by Campus Safety Magazine, more than 75 percent of college campuses now use emergency alert systems.
