"A couple of other software providers I looked at didn’t have the same functionality...I always felt like I got an answer and somebody to walk me through it and to get back to me quickly, which I really appreciated."
- Senior Director, Alumni Association
More college students than ever before are experiencing mental health challenges with data from the National Alliance on Mental Illness revealing that 73 percent of college students experience at least one mental health crisis during their college experience. Even more alarming, these mental health issues are not minor, with 15 percent of students who experience mental health challenges reportedly considering suicide.
The traditional ways of managing and treating student mental health issues are long outdated and clearly aren't working. Kokomo24/7® knows that the decrease in mental health and increase in the factors contributing to the crisis around the country requires a robust solution and understands the unique challenges that colleges and universities face because we have been helping them implement and manage school health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives since 2018.
We can provide your school, small or large, with a robust, yet easy-to-use software platform that can help schools implement their health, safety and wellbeing initiatives. Here are just a few ways that Kokomo24/7® tools can help keep students and your campus community safe.
Despite safety being a top priority for many schools around the country, more college students are worried about their physical safety on campus than ever before. According to a survey conducted by ADT and Clery Center, a staggering 82 percent of student respondents said they were concerned about their physical safety on campus.
The survey revealed that the source of these student concerns was a lack of security presence, easy access to campus buildings, and an increase in violent attacks in the United States. These physical safety worries wear on the mental health of students, leading to more cases of anxiety, depression and more.
Kokomo24/7® tools such as our Visitor Management, Anonymous Reporting System, and Emergency Alert Button work to help improve the physical safety of students on campus in the following ways.
Emergency Alert - Our Emergency Alert Button helps ensure the safety of all campus community members with a way to call for help during times of extreme emergency. With the simple press of a button, first responders can be dispatched to your location.
Visitor Management - With our Visitor Management tool, you can ensure all visitors are properly managed and tracked through screening tools, attendance tracking, and options for digital badging, resulting in safer, more secure campuses for students everywhere.
Anonymous Reporting - The Kokomo24/7® Anonymous Reporting tool provides students, staff, and community members with a private way to report concerning behavior. According to the U.S. Department of Education, in four out of five shootings, somebody knew of the shooter’s plan before the attack occurred.
At the root of the student mental health crisis is a severe lack of resources for most schools in the country. Data from the American Psychological Association reports that on small to medium college campuses, the ratio of certified counselors to students overall is about 1:1500, and at large schools, that ratio is 1:2750.
Kokomo24/7® software tools look to streamline complex tasks and consolidate workflow, saving you time and leading to better management of predictable and unpredictable problems. Here are a few ways our modules can help your school better manage student mental health.
Feedback Management - Our Customized Forms provide surveys and questionnaires to collect the information you need, when you need it. Understand how your campus community feels about anything and take the appropriate actions when needed. Stay ahead of your students’ mental health before it’s too late and stay better informed about their status.
Incident Management - Our Incident Management tool features one centralized dashboard to help you collect, track, manage, and respond to student claims and cases. Our dashboard saves prior information to create a clearer, comprehensive picture of your student’s experience and ensures that student claims are dealt with in a timely manner.
Communications Management - The Communications Management feature helps users to streamline messages to select people or groups of people to stay informed of important emergency and non-emergency updates. Timely notify your campus community of anything they need to know or communicate with specified individuals or departments about any mental health case.
