2023 Construction Trends - Insights & Analysis | Kokomo24/7®

With 2023 starting, there are a number of trends in the construction industry that are worth paying attention to.

Sustainability

One trend that is expected to continue to grow in popularity is the use of sustainable building materials. With an increased focus on reducing the environmental impact of construction projects, more and more builders are looking for ways to incorporate eco-friendly materials into their projects. Some of the most popular sustainable building materials include recycled steel, bamboo, and recycled plastic.

Prefabrication

Another trend that is likely to become more prominent in the coming year is the use of prefabricated or modular construction techniques. Prefabricated construction involves building components off-site and then transporting them to the construction site to be assembled. This approach has a number of benefits, including faster construction times, reduced waste, and improved safety on the job site. Modular construction, which involves building entire sections of a building off-site and then assembling them on-site, is also becoming more popular.

Technology

In addition to these trends, there is also a growing focus on the use of technology to improve construction processes. This includes the use of drones to conduct site surveys, 3D printing to create custom building components, and virtual reality to allow builders to visualize and plan out their projects before breaking ground.

Artificial Intelligence

Another trend to watch in 2023 is the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in construction. AI can be used to optimize project schedules, improve supply chain management, and automate tasks such as quality control and site inspections. This can help builders to save time and money, and improve the overall efficiency of their projects.

Safety & OSHA

Finally, safety will continue to be a top priority in the construction industry in 2023. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is expected to make a number of updates to its rules and regulations to improve the safety and health of workers. This includes updates to Forms 300, 300A, and 301, which are used to record and report workplace injuries and illnesses. Employers who fail to submit these forms as required may face fines and other penalties.

To help construction companies stay compliant with OSHA regulations and improve safety on the job site, there are a number of tools and resources available. One such tool is Kokomo CASES™, a software tool designed to help easily track all workplace incidents in one easy-to-use and centralized dashboard. Kokomo CASES™ empowers users to collect, manage, and respond to workplace incidents while maintaining the required OSHA compliance reports.
